Wednesday - Metamorphosis continued - Read a second time - In blue section note Gregor Samsa's views on work, his obligation for his job and his feelings toward it and his boss. Not the line and page numbers.

Monday - Argument Handout - Complete and turn into the sub. You will need to look at your Collections online textbook. You have two assignments Writing Arguments 2 and Writing Arguments 3. WA2 will go along with the handout. WA3 you will work through on your own after you are finished with WA2. FYI - I can access how many students actually open it and work through the document. I will be using this to determine if there is a quiz on Tuesday!

Monday - Roots Vocab Quiz, Connotation vs. Denotation (see Google Classroom), Academic Vocabulary: Connotation & Denotation - Write 4 denotative sentences about winter or summer in your BLUE section and then turn those 4 sentences into connotative sentences. Complete the worksheet in Google Classroom (1st hour put in your journals in Green section) 7th hour complete worksheet and submit through Google Classroom.
Tuesday - Academic Vocabulary - Structure, Juxtaposition, Inference, Purpose, and Point of View. LEVEL UP Tutorial in Collections Author's Purpose. Collections book - Video and Trailer for My So-Called Enemy.Roots and Vocab for the week - See your Google Classroom.

Monday - Article of the Week - Kaepernick (1 & 2), Reading Circles of three separate articles: Collection page 15 - Texas v. Johnson Majority Opinion, page 18 - American Flag Stands for Tolerance, Close Reader page 9 from Universal Declaration of Human Rights. - Define the four words in groups and write a 21 word summary of your reading - present to class.
Tuesday - Finish Vocabulary Poster, Write summary and share - discuss as a class.
Wednesday - AOW (Answer following questions: What does he want? How does he show what he wants? What does he say?), Academic Vocab - Tone & its impact on writing - look at examples from the readings we have read so far.
Thursday - Commas Review Rule 1, Discuss Rule 2 & 3 - Connotation of words

Wednesday - Bellwork: Vocab (Inert, Raze, Crevice, Novelty, Paltry), Handed back ACT test from last week along with shared answers/test breakdown in Google Classroom, Academic Vocabulary in Green section of Interactive Journal, Read "What, of This Goldfish, Would You Wish?" pages 3- 8 in Collections.
Thursday - Bellwork: Vocab ( delectable, peril, lull, douse, derelict), finished "Goldfish" story. Academic Vocab Tone and Motivation. Blue Writing Section: What motivated Sergei? What examples from the story showed this? Cite your responses use the author's last name and the page number of the detail in parentheses. Commas to Separate.
